UFC Fight Night: Dos Santos vs. Ivanov live results, discussion, play by play

Live, blow-by-blow updates for today’s UFC event in Boise, which is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Junior dos Santos and Blagoy Ivanov.

Join us today on Bloody Elbow for live results, discussion, round scoring and play-by-play as UFC Fight Night: Dos Santos vs. Ivanov takes place in the CenturyLink Arena in Boise, ID.

The headliner comes in the heavyweight division, where Junior dos Santos makes his long-awaited return against former WSOF champ, the debuting Blagoy Ivanov.

Today’s event will coincide with regular Fight Night times. Live results and play-by-play will commence with the Fight Pass broadcast at 6:30pm ET/3:30pm PT for three fights. The event will then flip over to FS1 for four more prelims starting at 8pm ET, and then stay there for the full six-fight main card which goes down at 10pm ET. The full lineup and schedule follows.

Junior dos Santos vs. Blagoy Ivanov

Round 1 - Dos Santos stalking Ivanov early. He fakes a knee. JDS just messes with a right. Front kick from Dos Santos. Big right over the top from Dos Santos. Ivanov with a nice right himself, and it got Dos Santos’ attention. JDS with a head kick. Herb Dean warns them about their fingers. Dos Santos has a small cut on his eyebrow. Ivanov with a nice right again. Body kick from JDS, and a straight right. Outside leg kick from Dos Santos. Step-in knee. Body shot. Ivanov charges forward but can’t land. Left over tyhe top from JDS, and a body kick. 10-9 Dos Santos.

Round 2 - Dos Santos slowly walks Ivanov over near the cage again. Spinning wheel kick from Dos Santos lands. Inside leg kick from Ivanov. JDS with two strong jabs. A two-punch combo backs Ivanov off. Ivanov with a counter right and he’s trying to estabish the middle a little more. Nice right from Dos Santos to the body. Front kick and a jab from Dos Santos. Ivanov bleeding now. Low leg kick from JDS. Hard overhand right from Dos Santos. Front kick to the belly from JDS. Not a lot of urgency here. Jabs from Ivanov. 10-9 Dos Santos.

Round 3 - A lot of feinting. Ivanov lands two lefts. Nice right from JDS. Ivanov definitely more active. Short left from him. Body shot from Dos Santos. Back to the jab. Straight right, and Ivanov is wiping his eye like he’s hurt. The ref says it came from a punch though. Hard jab. Ivanov still blinking. Body kick from JDS. JDS with a left hook to the same spot. Ivanov with a big left that got JDS to back off. JDS first back with a right cross. Ivanov with a right now! Dos Santos with a lead right. Junior with a three-punch combo. Overhand right. Ivanov fires back with a right. Much more competitive, but 10-9 Dos Santos again.

Round 4 - Dos Snatos with a right. The ref deals with a tape issue on Junior’s glove. Body kick from Dos Santos. Jab from JDS. Ivanov has a cut in his hairline. Ivanov lands a counter left. JDS with a quick left that knocked Ivanov off balance. Hes got his hands down, it looks like he’s gassing. He’s throwing wild strikes that JDS is easily avoiding. JDS fakes a single leg. Ivanov did land a nice right but it appeared to connect with Dos Santos’ shoulder. Body shot from JDS. Hard counter right from Dos Santos. Ivanoc with a shot over the top. Dos Santos with a hard jab. Double jab from JDS. He’s sensing that his opponent is nearly done. 10-9 JDS.

Round 5 - Big shot right away from JDS. He’s still fresh. Body shot. Some blood on the nose of JDS. Hard, hard body kick from Dos Santos. He’s continuing to work the body. Body kick as Ivanov throws a left. Looks like another eye poke. JDS had been warned for them earlier in the fight. No point taken, and they continue with 3:30 to go. Huge overhand right wobbles Ivanov. Ivanov tries to come right back. Hard left from JDS. Jab. Head kick from Dos Santos, Ivanov fired back with a right. Jab again. Ivanov with a right over the top. Head and body jab. He tries a front kick and Ivanov lands a combination. JDS with a short right. Ivanov throwing everything he has. JDS backing off now, looking to spin. Ivanov lands late but it’s over. 10-9 and 50-45 Dos Santos.

Junior dos Santos defeated Blagoy Ivanov via unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, 50-45)

Sage Northcutt vs. Zak Ottow

Round 1 - Ottow lands one big shot and Northcutt is already on his back. Northcutt with an upkick as Ottow backs out. He jumps back in. Ottow lands a few lefts in half guard. Nice elbow. He looks for a topside guillotine with no success. Northcutt looks for an armbar. Ottow pulls away. Northcutt is still hunting but getting nowhere. Ottow steps out, then back in, and moves to side control. Ottow to a very high mount. This allows Sage to get bakc up with 55 seconds to go. He lands two jabs and an elbow. Ottow tries to get a takedown but Sage threatens with a guillotine and goes to the ground. He’s still cranking form the top and he’s in mount now. Big shots from Sage. Quite the comeback, but still 10-9 Ottow.

Round 2 - Northcutt with two lefts and a head kick. Ottow scoops a single and gets Northcutt to his butt. Back elbows from Northcutt and he’s back up. Knee to the body and a left. Ottow shoots again. He pushes Northcutt to the cage, but gets reversed. He separates and lights up Ottow. Ottow goes down! He’s tying up Northcutt’s wrists but he gets free. Big strikes and Ottow is done!

Dennis Bermudez vs. Rick Glenn

Round 1 - Glenn with a body kick. Bermudez looks for an odd takedown attempt. They exchange inside. Body kick from Glenn again. Bermudez goes to the body. Glenn with a couple of jabs. Glenn with a stiff left. Another. Bermudez seems to be having problems with Glenn’s length. He looks for a takedown but can’t get it. High body kick from Glenn. Front kick from Bermudez. Knee to the gut from Bermudez. Another takedown attempt goes awry. They trade shots in close. Another body kick from Glenn. 10-9 Glenn.

Round 2 - They trade a bunch of shots inside quickly. Bermudez gets Glenn to the floor. He lands a few shots on the ground but Glenn gets up. Bermudez with a takedown but it doesn’t stay there long. Bermudez lands a left inside. Glenn ends up on his back again but he lands some good elbows from there. Glenn backed him off with punches back on the feet but Bermudez put him back down yet again. He rides out the round there. 10-9 Bermudez.

Round 3 - Knee from Bermudez against the cage as he looks to but Glenn on his back again. And he does. Glenn rolls to a leg lock but uses it to get up. He eats a knee on the way. Guess what? Another takedown. Glenn is cut open. He’s still trying to elbow from the bottom. Glenn makes it up after a couple of minutes but Bermudez is relentless. 10-9 and 29-28 Bermudez.

Rick Glenn defeated Dennis Bermudez via split decision (28-29, 30-27, 29-28)

Randy Brown vs. Niko Price

Round 1 - Inside leg kick from Brown. They trade shots. Front kick from Price. Brown with an uppercut and a knee to the body. Price throws Brown to the mat. Brown trying to frame up a triangle, without success. Price moves him over to the cage. Brown scrambles to his feet with 1:20 to go. Brown jumps onto Price’s back. Brown tries to spike him but it doesn’t work. Brown has both hooks from the bottom. Price is trying to land punchers to the face either way. Brown secures a body triangle ut Prices still rolls into it into top position. They get up. Brown lands a hard knee. They trade shots to the horn. 10-9 Brown.

Round 2 - Price pressures earhly with punches and looks for a takedown. Brown looks to secure a choke and it forces Price to his back. Brown stands out of guard. Upkick from Price. Brown dives in with a huge right. Brown gets tied up in Price’s legs and Price starts lighting him up with hammerfists from the bottom. And BROWN IS OUT COLD! HOLY HELL!

Chad Mendes vs. Myles Jury

Round 1 - Slow start. Mendes wades in with punches but comes up short. Head kick by Jury is blocked. Jury with a knee up the middle. Mendes with a huge left that drops Jury! He’s unloading with punches but Jury got to huard. Mendes got him to turtle and kept pounding away until the ref finally stopped it.

Cat Zingano vs. Marion Reneau

Round 1 - Zingano with a low kick. Reneau lands a counter right. Zingano looks for a takedown and gets it. Reneau had a hold of her arm so Zingano let her up. They clinch. Knee inside from Zingano. Elbow over the top from Reneau. Reneau jumps guard, in an odd way. Zingano slammed her to the mat. Zingano backs out and makes Reneau stand again. Inside leg kick from Zingano. Outside leg kick too. A left from Zingano looks like it wobbled Reneau. Zingano with another hard takedown. 10-9 Zingano.

Round 2 - Reneau presses with a combination that wobbles Zingano a bit, but she gets another takedown. Reneau gets up and lands a hard knee, but again Zingano puts her on her back. She can’t really open up on the ground whenever she gets Reneau there, and just chooeses to let Reneau back up again. Body kick from Zingano. More clinch work and a knee to the gut from Zingano. Zingano with a left and a leg kick. Reneau with a stuff jab. Zingano with yet another bodylock takedown. She grinds out the rest of the round. 10-9 Zingano.

Round 3 - Leg kick from Zingano. Zingano with a single. Reneau looks for a choke but Zingano slams her down yet again. Reneau gets to her knees. Zingano spins around to her back, but ends up in full guard again. There’s not much happening. Zingano lands a short elbow. She’s doing enoug to maintain top position and not be stood up. 10-9 and 30-27 Zingano.

Cat Zingano defeated Marion Reneau via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26)

Eddie Wineland vs. Alejandro Perez

Round 1 - Wineland wades in to brawl right away. Perez catches him with a left. Wineland with a right and they trade low kicks. Perez with a knee in a brief clinch. Perez spins and misses. They go to the ground but only for a few seconds. Nice jab from Perez. Wineland goes to the body. Perez with a hard combo. Wineland goes to the body and throws a leg kick again. Perez with a knee. Overhand right connects for Perez. Wineland drops Perez with a counter right! He’s up immediately. But Wineland lands the left again. Perez shoots but gets stuffed. Perez with a combo. Wineland with his own. 10-9 Wineland due to the knockdown.

Round 2 - Leg kick from Wineland. They trade jabs. Perez with a head kick. They both miss with big shots. Perez with a jab and a leg kick. Wineland misses with the counter. Slower pace in this round. Wineland is wading in but not connecting as much. Perez digs to the body, Wineland lands a right hook counter. Wineland with a jab. Perez with a left, Wineland with a right. Jump knee and a left from Perez. Didn’t really land though. Wineland with a chopping leg kick. Perez slips on a kick but gets back up. 10-9 Wineland.

Round 3 - They’re both winding up and missing. Hard low kick from Perez. Perez with a hard straight right. Wineland with a couple of counters. Wineland to the body, and he’s the one coming forward. Body shot as Perez shoots, but can’t get anywhere. Perez with a jab. Two minutes to go. Wineland to the body. Perez with a hard outside leg kick. Perez with two lefts. They’re missing again. Wineland with a counter right. Wineland with all the pressure but he’s not connecting with anything. Perez lands three late shots. 10-9 Perez, but 29-28 Wineland.

Alejandro Perez defeated Eddie Wineland via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Darren Elkins vs. Alexander Volkanovski

Round 1 - Outside leg kick from Volkanovski. Elkins with a right and a body kick. Another body kick and he just dove in underneath Volkanovski. Volkanovski looking for a guillotine, but Elkins slams him. He still has it but it’s not locked up. Now it is, but Elkins gets his head out somehow. They reset on the feet. Volkanovski with a counter right over the top. He moves in for a takedown. Some knees inside from both men. Elkins looks for a body lock takedown but can’t get it. Hard elbow over the top from Volkanovski. They trade in the pocket. Volkanovski with a hard right and Elkins goes down! He looks for a guillotine again and Elkins got back up. Volkanovski cracks him with another big shot and an elbow. Another right. Elkins is trying to fire back. Another right sends Elkins to the mat again! Volkanovski cranking on a guillotine but the horn goes! 10-8 Volkanovski.

Round 2 - Elkins with a body kick. Head kick from Volkanovski. Elkins brawls in but Volkanovski clubs him with a right. They brawl in close. Volkanovski clinches. He lands a knee. Elkins throws a wild right back at distance. Elkins slaps Volkanovski with a left. Body kick. Volkanovski in on a takedown again but can’t get it. Volkanovski spins and misses. Elkins has a lot of blood on the side of his head but he’s hanging in there. Body kick from Elkins. Another one. Volkanovski shoots in again, briefly. Elkins just misses with a big right. Volkanovski with the hard right. A left wobbles Elkins. Low kick from Volkanovski. Elkins with a combo and the body kick. He lands a counter right. Elkins trips on the cage at the horn. Much closer round. 10-9 Volkanovski.

Round 3 - Inside leg kick and body kick. Volkanovski with a right. Elkins diiiigs for a single but Volkanovski is avoiding his attempts. Elkins with an uppercut. Jab from Volkanovski. A big left and a right behind it stuns Elkins again. Low leg kick from Volkanovski. Another left. Body kick from Elkins. He lands a counter left too. Volkanovski with the counte rright. He shoots in but Elkins will not get taken to the floor. Volkanovski with more punches, and he’s back to grappling again. Not sure why he keeps trying to get a takedown when he’s dominating the standup. Two minutes to go. Jab from Elkins. His face is a bloody mess. Counter left from Volkanovski. Jabs too. They trade rights. Elkins with the combo and the kick. Elkins with a left hook and three uppercuts. Volkanovski gets Elkins to his butt, albeit briefly. They brawl in the corner. Volkanovski with a huge right. The horn goes and Volkanovski lands a late flush shot that STILL doesn’t put Elkins down. 10-9 and 30-26 Volkanovski, but what is Elkins made of?

Alex Volkanovski defeated Darren Elkins via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Justin Scoggins vs. Said Nurmagomedov

Round 1 - Inside leg kick from Scoggins. Inside leg kick from Nurmagomedov. Side kick too. Lots of movement, but no major exchanges yet. Scoggins spins and misses. Nurmagomedov with a flying knee to the body. Scoggins connects with a hard shot. He spins again. Nurmagomedov looks for a double but Scoggins fights him off. Slapping head kick from Nurmagomedov. He ties Scoggins up against the cage and looks for a throw, but can’t get it. Scoggins gets away again. Nurmagomedov with a lead right hook. 10-9 Scoggins.

Round 2 - Scoggins with a left over the top right away. Low kick from Scoggins on Nurmagomedov as he was coming in trips up the Dagestani fighter. Scoggins just lets him up though. Nurmagomedov lands and backs Scoggins up. They both land hard at the same time but Scoggins dropped Nurmagomedov with his punch! He’s up right away, and appears to have a clear head. Scoggins with a spinning back kick that was blocked. Nurmagomedov looknig for a question mark kick. He connects with a left. Scoggins with his own as Nurmy advances. Short uppercut from Nurmagomedov. Front kick to the body from Nurmagomedov. He looks for another takedown, without success. Side kick to the face lands for Scoggins. Slapping leg kick from Nurmy. 10-9 Scoggins.

Round 3 - Nurmagomedov gets an immediate takedown. Nurmy stayed steady with GnP, but the ref didn’t like it after two minutes and stood them up. Nurmagomedov lands a head kick. Hook kick from Scoggins lands to the cheek. He lands a right too. Spinning back kick to the belly. Another hook kick. Scoggins swats away a takedown attempt. He lands a hard low leg kick. Scoggins with side kicks. They trade jabs. Knee from Scoggins. Head kick from Nurmagomedov. 10-9 Nurmagomedov but 29-28 Scoggins.

Said Nurmagomedov defeated Justin Scoggins via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Raoni Barcelos vs. Kurt Holobaugh

Round 1 - Holobaugh with an inside leg kick. They both connect with hard rights. Barcelos is really brawling inside. Holobaugh lands some knees though. Uppercut from Barcelos. The pace has slowed a bit after the furious start. Barcelos with another uppercut. Body kick from Holobaugh. Holobaugh with a body jab and an inside leg kick. Barcelos with a right hook. Barcelos ducks a right and gets a takedown into Holobaugh’s full guard. Holobaugh immediately looks for an armbar and gets to his feet. Barcelos with a brief front headlock. Big uppercut from Barcelos. Holobaugh with a nice combo. Holobaugh with an awkward takedown attempt and Barcelos secures a guillotine. Too late though, as the horn sounds. 10-9 Barcelos.

Round 2 - They trade rights. Nice jab from Holobaugh. Barcelos with a combo. Left for Barcelos. They both miss inside. Barcelos with a takedown. He gets to half, then looks for a guillotine again. He lands a knee as Holobaugh stands. Holobaugh answers with a right hook. More jabs and a body kick from Holobaugh. Uppercut and a straight right from Barcelos. Beautiful trip takedown by Barcelos! Holobaugh back up after about 30 seconds. Barcelos spins and Holobaugh takes his back. He can’t really do anything with the position though. A few punches. 10-9 Barcelos.

Round 3 - Barcelos with two hard straight rights. Hard combo and huge uppercut hurt Holobaugh! Another shot puts him down and it’s over! That was sick!

Liz Carmouche vs. Jennifer Maia

Round 1 - Maia with a leg kick. Carmouche with a wide combo. Lead right hook from Carmouche. They clinch up and Carmouche tries to throw Maia to the floor. It didn’t work the first time, but it did the second time and she is working from side control. Hard elbows to the side of the head. Maia back up though. She bullies Carmouche to the cage and lands some knees. The ref resets them after they stall out with 1:45 to go. Maia with a nice lead right that connects. Carmouche responds in kind. Maia with a 1-2. Another right hook lands for Maia. Now a body kick. Maia with an uppercut and another right. I think Maia took that away in the last minute. 10-9 Maia.

Round 2 - Maia with the jab, straight right combo again that is working quite well. Carmouche looking to counter. Low kick from Carmouche. Outside and inside. Maia goes to the body. Maia with another combo. They trade inside as they wade into the clinch halfway through the round. They trade knees. The ref warns there for inactivity right away. Carmouche can’t get underhooks, but the ref separates them. A bit early, in my opinion. Maia just misses with a right. Bodu jab from Maia. Carmouche iwth a right and a trip takedown. She’s back in side. She steps over into mount. Big shots and she’s looknig for an armbar, but the horn goes. 10-9 Carmouche.

Round 3 - Maia seems to have an issue with her gear, and Carmouche charges in for a takedown. Maia almost rolls through but can’t. She looks for a kneebar instead. Carmouche ends up in Maia’s full guard. There’s not much happening here. Maia threatens with a submission and Carmouche totally takes advantage, passing to side then advancing to mount in just a few seconds. That was beautiful. Maia regains half guard but she’s being dominated here. Maia tries to scoot but all she can do is get full guard back. Maia up with 45 seconds to go. She’s pressing. Carmouche slaps her. Outside leg kick from Maia. They brawl a bit. 10-9 and 29-28 Carmouche. Good fight.

Liz Carmouche defeated Jennifer Maia via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Mark De La Rosa vs. Elias Garcia

Round 1 - They exchange quickly. Inside leg kick from Garcia. Another. Outside now. De La Rosa a little gunshy now. Fancy kick attempt from Garcia. Hard body kick from Garcia but De La Rosa caught it. Garcia hit a jump knee. De La Rosa lifted the leg higher, and Garcia jumped him and attempted a triangle! De La Rosa gave him a helicopter swing to get him off! That was certainly unique. De La Rosa presses in with punches and clinches. He ties him up and uses misdirection to drag Garcia to the floor with just over 90 seconds to go. Ha lands a left in Garcia’s full guard. Now butterfly, and he looks for an armbar! De La Rosa pulled him up for a slam and Garcia stood up. De La Rosa with a body kick. Shovel hook from De La Rosa. Good round. 10-9 Garcia.

Round 2 - Body kick from Garcia. Nice, long lead left from Garcia lands. De La Rosa flurries and they brawl into the clinch. De La Rosa looking for the takedown and ends up with back control on the ground. Both hooks. He sinks the choke and it’s over. That was quick.

Jessica Aguilar vs. Jodie Esquibel

Round 1 - They trade early. Aguilar tries to clinch but eats a right. They eventually end up in the clinch anyway. Some knees from Aguilar. JAG almost gets a takedown but Esquibel manages to stay up. More knees from Aguilar inside. Aguilar continues to try to drag her down but can’t get Esquibel furhter than her knees. Esquibel gets up and reverses position. Herb Dean asks for action. They finally separate with two minutes to go. Esquibel paws with a right at the end of combinations. Body/head from Esquibel. Aguilar fires back. Nice knee from Aguilar. Front kick from Esquibel, Aguilar fires back with a body kick. Aguilar with a combo, and a hard right follows it up. Esquibel charges forward and lands a couple. 10-9 Aguilar.

Round 2 - Both are very active on the feet again early. Esquibel doing a good job of rolling away from Aguilar’s punches, but she’s getting caught with knees. Nice counter from Esquibel. Nice combo from Aguilar. Esquibel with a hard left at the end of a combo. Now a right over the top. And another hard one. Aguilar responds with a charging combo. Lead right from Esquibel. Aguilar with a lead left. Aguilar with a knee up in the middle. They clinch and trade knees. 10-9 Esquibel.

Round 3 - They’re wasting no time for the third round in a row. Esquibel lands a right hook. Aguilar with her own right. Aguilar is pressing. Hard straight left from JAG. Esquibel circles out. Jab from Esquibel. Another exchange inside. Aguilar misses with a knee, but lands a light one a few seconds later. JAG clinches. Esquibel reverses. JAG is landing more knees there though still. She does land a hard one on her way out though. Esquibel with an uppercut. They trade again. JAG with a counter right and a nice knee. A lead right lands too. Esquibel fires back. Front kick from Esquibel. Esquibel goes to the body. JAG presses but can’t land. Yet another knee from Aguilar. Esquibel fakes a takedown and lands a right. JAG clinches. Knees inside. They separate and brawl to the horn. 10-9 and 29-28 Aguilar.
