UFC 225 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the fourth episode for this weekend’s big show in the Windy City, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
We’re in Chicago with Colby Covington and his family. Other than one filthy animals comment, he’s just enjoying time with his sister and dad and playing around. Nice to see that he’s a regular human once in a while.
Next we get our first extended look at Megan Anderson. She talks about being the underdog, and her coach James Krause describes her fighting style. Jason Parillo discusses Rafael dos Anjos and about how he’s much better off at 170 pounds.
Robert Whittaker comes into the hotel and introduces himself to Ricardo Lamas. CM Punk is being fitted for gloves. “They fit like a glove,” he says. “How many assholes say that to you?” That made me laugh.
We briefly see Andrei Arlovski come in. Colby’s getting a little makeup done. He talks about his walkout shirt a bit.
Holly Holm apparently signed over CM Punk’s on a poster and was apologetic. Punk feigns rage and picks up a chair when he’s told about it, then decides that a dolly might be a better idea. A Conor McGregor reference! Well played. Holly’s not actually in the room for this, but right after he comes out, she walks by him. She doesn’t really acknowledge him even though he says hello. “Wow, maybe there is beef. I don’t know,” he says to the camera.
Open workouts time. Yoel Romero is warmly greeted by the crowd. Someone in the audience yells “Are you going to give him a big kiss after you knock him out?” Romero responds with “Is that what you want to see?” The crowd cheers.
Covington is next. He talks his regular smack about Chicago being a dump and their sports teams sucking before he goes out to a shower of boos. Punk doesn’t work out, but comes out and makes fun of Colby a bit, which got him over (as if he needed to get over any more in Chicago). Holly works out, then RDA. Bobby Knuckles closes things out. He’s prepared for war.
And that’s it! UFC 225 goes down tomorrow night in Chicago.
