UFC 225 kicks off this Saturday, so that means Bloody Elbow is back to bring you the midweek betting odds. The top of the billing will see a middleweight title fight rematch, when Robert Whittaker (-220) attempts to defend his crown against his last opponent, the 13-2 Yoel Romero (+180). Both Whittaker and Romero clocked in with a closing moneyline of -115 in their first match at UFC 213, and since then, Romero has knocked out Luke Rockhold and Whittaker has defeated a serious bout with staph infection.
The co-main event of the evening has the promotions #4 welterweight, Colby Covington (-130) favored to beat the UFC’s former lightweight champ, and the current #1 welterweight in the world, Rafael dos Anjos (-110 to +110). This matchup is actually the tightest line of the night, as RDA is the only athlete that can be found at both plus and minus odds. According to the odds, Dan Ige vs. Mike Santiago should also be a tossup, with Ige being the betting favorite at -135 and Santiago barely registering as an underdog at +105.
The heaviest betting favorite of the event comes in the form of #3 strawweight Claudia Gadelha, who sits at a robust -525 to a +415 underdog Carla Esparza. The second widest line of UFC 225 belongs to Anthony Smith vs. Rashad Evans, with Smith being found at a sizable -310 line to Evans’ +255 dog tag. In the least experienced matchup of the night, CM Punk will be the underdog to Mike Jackson, with Punk sitting around +185 and Jackson floating around -225. CM Punk opened up as a +230 underdog in his pro/UFC debut against Mickey Gall, and Jackson opened up as a +325 underdog in his pro/UFC debut, also to Gall.
Saturday’s UFC 225 main card will air live on Pay-Per-View at 10:00 P.M. EST with the prelims starting at 8:00 P.M. EST on FS1. The exclusive Fight Pass prelims will begin at 6:15 P.M. EST.
