A pair of featherweight sluggers are headed to Lincoln, Nebraska. According to a report by The Journal Star, former lightweight contender Michael Johnson will take on Team Alpha Male’s Andre Fili at UFC Fight Night 135.
Michael Johnson (17-13) was bested by Darren Elkins via submission, in his featherweight debut, back in January. The loss extended his currently losing skid to three, with stoppage losses also suffered against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje. The 32-year-old’s last win came in September 2016, when he knocked out Dustin Poirier.
Andre Fili (18-5) lives a different life than his opponent right now. Currently on a two-fight winning streak, ‘Touchy’ got past Dennis Bermudez and Artem Lobov both by way of decision. His last loss happened in July 2017, when Calvin Kattar also defeated him by way of decision.
UFC Fight Night 135 is set for August 25th on Fox Sports 1. The card was supposed to be headlined by a lightweight bout between Justin Gaethje and Al Iaquinta, however, the latter recently withdrew from the card and was replaced by rising contender James Vick.
