Tony Ferguson’s world was rocked when he sustained a ‘freak’ knee injury in the days leading up to his highly-anticipated lightweight championship bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223, which forced ‘El Cucuy’ to withdraw from the main event at the last minute.

But judging by a recent post on social media, posted on Thursday, the former interim lightweight champ is in good spirits and enthusiastically told fans he’s ‘back’.

Ferguson posted a training montage and revealed he’s been given the ‘green light’ to start therapy.

The 33-year-old underwent surgery for a torn ligament in April and posted two nasty photos of his badly bruised leg, post-op.

Ferguson was stripped of the interim belt and mocked by Conor McGregor for pulling out of UFC 223 at the last minute, but The Ultimate Fighter 13 winner seems more determined than ever to turn things around claw his way back to a title shot.

Ferguson hasn’t provided a timeline for his return, but the 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu standout is expected to be out of action for the rest of the year.

Nurmagomedov currently reigns as the undisputed lightweight champion, and is expected to defend his belt against McGregor, or perhaps the winner of the upcoming rematch between Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier at UFC Calgary on July 28.
