UFC 221 may not be a particularly appealing card on paper, but there is one man on the prelims who absolutely should catch your attention.
Middleweight Israel Adesanya is incredibly fun to watch. “The Style Bender” is not just a perfect 12-0 (12 KOs) in MMA, he’s a standout in professional kickboxing, and has a few wins in pro boxing. This is a striker to be feared. Adesanya can knock you out with one shot or string together a lethal combination of punches, kicks, knees, and whatever else he feels like throwing to render another human being unconscious or doubled over in pain. At just 28 years old, Adesanya is another fresh face in the 185-pound division, and depending on how other parts of his game look, we could be watching a future title contender.
To get you hyped up for his debut, check out this highlight reel of some of his best work both in MMA and kickboxing. The smoothness and accuracy of his striking really should stand out, in addition to his power.
Additionally, his second-most recent fight was a knockout win over UFC veteran Melvin Guillard, and you can see the full fight below.
Adesanya takes on Australia’s Rob Wilkinson, who is coming off a KO loss to Siyar Bahadurzada, on the UFC 221 FS1 preliminary card, which airs on Saturday, February 10th at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT. Tune in and watch, he’s surely not going to disappoint.
