The UFC’s #11 welterweight Donald Cerrone let his strikes fly in the UFC Austin main event, dropping the #15 Yancy Medeiros, and finishing up with ground and pound to get the 1st round win. Cerrone still has the accuracy and power as he grows older in his career, and this was a bit of a must win for Cowboy, as this snaps a three-fight losing skid. This loss for Medeiros sends him back down the welterweight ladder.
Main Event:
Donald Cerrone def. Yancy Medeiros by TKO at 4:58 of round 1: Welterweight
As advertised, these welterweights came out swinging right out of the gate, with Cowboy launching body kicks and Medeiros landing with the left hook. Cerrone landed a stiff left that briefly dropped his opponent, but backed up and allowed Medeiros to recover. Cerrone landed a solid flurry at the end of the round, hurting Medeiros, and following up with heavy ground strikes to get the finish.
