Henry Cejudo: Tim Elliott should ‘man up’ for calling me ‘fake’ during TUF 24

New, comments

Flyweight contender Henry Cejudo is not willing to let go of the statements thrown at him by Tim Elliott during the 24th Season of The Ultimate Fighter almost two years ago.

In 2016, UFC flyweight contender Henry Cejudo coached the 24th Season of the Ultimate Fighter against Joseph Benavidez. Among the contestants was Tim Elliott, who was the first pick of Team Benavidez.

During the duration of that season, Elliott apparently had a few choice words for Cejudo, which the latter still begrudges to this day. On Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour, “The Messenger” now wants to settle this rift inside the Octagon.

“During the show they had asked all the contestants ‘what do you feel about the two coaches?’” Cejudo said (via MMA Fighting). “They asked about Joseph and they asked about me. And of course they asked Elliott what do you think about Henry Cejudo and the first word that came out of his mouth was ‘fake.’ And I’m like ‘oh okay, so I’m fake.’”

“He goes off, beats two of my guys on The Ultimate Fighter show that I coached and he has a good performance against Demetrious Johnson and a lot of people applaud him, and now he wants to leave the flyweight division,” he added. “And I just said, hold on, hold on, hold on. you ain’t leaving the flyweight division without getting a piece of ‘The Messenger.’ You said some things and now it’s time to man up.”

Cejudo is so eager to have a crack at Elliott, that he is willing to jump weight classes just to make it happen.

“I would meet Tim Elliott at 135. At heavyweight if he wanted. I want to fight Tim Elliott. I want to fight him.”

It did not take long for Elliott to respond to Cejudo’s callouts.

Cejudo last fought in December at UFC 217, where he won over Sergio Pettis via unanimous decision. Elliott, meanwhile, had a successful fight at bantamweight at UFC 219 a few weeks later, submitting Mark De La Rosa in the second round.
