From showing clips of himself entering a cage, to Showtime executive Stephen Espinoza using “MayweatherMMA” hashtags, Floyd Mayweather and his team are still continuing to tease a possible switch to mixed martial arts. The latest from this social media campaign, is a photoshopped image showing the boxer wearing MMA gloves and elbowing Conor McGregor.

It didn’t take long for McGregor to respond, as the UFC champion posted a photo of himself throwing “a real elbow in a real fight.”

Of course, with Nate Diaz in that photo, the Stockton-native couldn’t let that pass either. He took to Instagram to post a photo from their first match up, saying it’s a “real kill in real war.”

Diaz has also been saying recently that he’s “sick of sitting around” and wants to return to competition soon, possibly around May or June.

Meanwhile, McGregor (and Mayweather) seems to be content on just social media posturing, as he has taunted just about every possible opponent, without having any plans for a return made public.

McGregor’s lightweight title could also be stripped soon, as Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson have been booked to compete for the “real” title at UFC 223 this April. There would be a lot of negotiations involved, but not having the belt could also open up the possibility to have these non-title, but big money rematches with Diaz or Mayweather.
