UFC 221 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the fourth and final episode for this weekend’s big show in Perth, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
Luke Rockhold and team are going on a camel ride. Yes, a camel ride. Then then move immediately to the open workouts, which Curtis Blaydes is doing for the first time. Mark Hunt does his thing, and gets the big crowd fired up. Yoel Romero gets a bit of a mixed response. He wins them over by bringing some people on stage to do some dancing with them.
Meanwhile, Rockhold is still on a camel. He enters the workouts on it, and says some words to the crowd after he hits the mitts.
Hunto then takes his son to a garage full of exotic cars, and they go drive around in a Ferrari. They’re both seriously having an awesome time.
It’s weight cutting time now. Rockhold is in the sauna with Kamaru Usman. They cut straight to the legit weigh-ins. Blaydes is a ready 255.5. Hunto is 265 on the dot.
Then the drama.
Rockhold is 185 for the title fight. But Romero is not. He’s at 188. He’s given two hours to cut, and during the staredown, Rockhold’s message is simple - “Make f—king weight.”
Spoiler - Romero didn’t make the weight.
