The main event will see the returning Jon Jones taking on Alexander Gustafsson for a second time. This will be for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title. Daniel Cormier relinquished his belt yesterday, if you hadn’t heard yet.
This post will cover just the main event between Jones and Gustafsson. The rest of the main card and the prelims are covered in separate posts.
The show kicks off on Fight Pass at approximately 6pm ET with four fights. The card then moves to FS1 at 8pm ET for four more bouts, then onto the main PPV card at 10pm ET. The full lineup and schedule follows.

Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson [LHW Title]
Round 1 - Jones looks for an immediate takedown but can’t get it. He tries to wrench Gustafsson’s shoulders. Jones dives in on a single and lands a low knee. Only a short break. Gus with a leg kick. Another. Jones with a jab. Inside leg kick from Jones. Gustafsson with a knee to the body. OJones with a low kick. Oblique kicks from Jones. They trade leg kicks. Jones with a knee up the middle. He lands to the body too. Pawing lefts from Gustafsson. Step-in elbow and a front kick from Jones. Inside leg kick. Gus with a leg kick. Jones caught a leg and is looking for a takedown. Can’t get it. Gustafsson misses with a superman punch. He lands to the body. Jones with a body kick. 10-9 Jones.
Round 2 - Jones kicking the body and inside of the leg. Jones misses badly with a left hook. Jones shoots again but gets nowhere. Gustafsson with a body shot. He lands a right and a slapping left. Hard body kick from Jones. Jones gets poked in the eye. Doctor is in to look at it. He’s good to go. They restart after about a minute. They trade kicks. Gustafsson presses with his boxing. He lands a left. Jones with a body shot and left hook. Outside leg kick. Gustafsson misses with a spinning elbow. Oblique kick from Jones. Hard leg kick from Jones. They trade in close. Another leg kick from Jones. Head kick is blocked. Another inside leg kick. Shovel hook from Jones. Gustafsso with a right over the top. Jones with a jab. Jones with an elbow on a clinch break. Jones with a spin kick. 10-9 Jones.
Round 3 - Jones with a left hook. Gustafsson with a stiff left. Jones gets a takedown. He immediately looks to throw elbows. Jones is in half guard. He tries to pin one of Gustafsson’s arms. He slides over onto Gustafsson’s bak. Big shots! Gustafsson looks out! Jon Jones is the champion once again!
