Unified WBA-WBC middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KOs) makes his way up to super-middleweight for the first time, and at the same time makes his Madison Square Garden debut.

Tonight (December 15th), the Mexican superstar takes on WBA “regular” super-middleweight champion Rocky Fielding (27-1, 15 KOs) as part of Alvarez’s first appearance on streaming service DAZN. Despite Fielding’s size and reach advantage, Alvarez is the more skilled of the two fighters, so while it should be entertaining, it’d be a shock if Fielding was able to keep it competitive.

Unfortunately, the co-main event between David Lemieux and Tureano Johnson was scrapped due to Lemieux’s latest weight cutting problems, so IBF junior lightweight champion Tevin Farmer will take co-main honors against Francisco Fonseca. The other title fight is Irish star Katie Taylor defending her lightweight belts against Eva Wahlstrom.

Bloody Elbow will have live round-by-round coverage of Canelo vs. Fielding, as well as results updates for the undercard. The prelims start at 6 PM ET/3 PM PT and will be live streamed for free on DAZN’s Twitter account, so the embed will drop here when it’s available. From there, head to DAZN itself for the “main card” at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT. The main event is expected to start at 11 PM ET/8 PM PT.

Right hand lands for Fielding but Canelo goes back to the liver. Uppercut-body shot combo by Alvarez. Fielding getting tattooed right now. He lands a late jab but it’s all Canelo. 10-8 Canelo.

Round 2 - Right hand by Alvarez blocked. Alvarez misses on a left hook. Good jab by Fielding and an uppercut. Back downstairs goes Alvarez. Fielding with another jab. Rocky with a couple of short shots upstairs that connect. Alvarez with a hard hook to the body. Another body blow. Right hand over the top by Fielding. Short uppercut by Fielding. Big overhand right by Alvarez. They trade uppercuts in close but Canelo’s are cleaner. Thunderous body shot and another one puts Fielding down on a knee. Ten seconds to go. And back to the liver. Fielding trying his hardest and he tags Canelo! But Alvarez answers back with an uppercut. Brutal uppercut by Canelo and the umpteenth body shot. Fielding with some jabs. Now Fielding with a right to the body. Quick three-punch combo barely fazes Alvarez. Fielding doing as much as he can. Hard right hand to the head and Fielding is down again.
