Invicta FC 33: Grusander vs Frey 2 preview, weigh-in results, video

Invicta FC closes out 2018 with a card built up mostly by a lot of up and comers, and another title fight at the top.

Minna Grusander (6-2) has been quite vocal about her displeasure regarding her decision loss against Jinh Yu Frey back in July, but she’s bringing her tenacity and grit to take the belt home this time around. Frey (7-3) still has her slick boxing and dogged grappling to outwork her opponents, and hopes to settle things in their second outing.

Former UFC fighter Danielle Taylor (9-4) is one of the toughest and hardest hitting strawweights around, and she has a tough test ahead against Mexican newcomer Montserrat Ruiz, a durable and dynamic athlete with good takedowns. Ruiz can pack a punch as well, and this could end up being a standing firefight.

Standout wrestler Sharon Jacobson (5-3) suffered a tough decision loss in Pancrase earlier this year, and will attempt to bounce back against Kay Hansen (5-3). Hansen replaces the injured Kanako Murata, which would have made for another amazing fight. New Mexico’s Amber Brown (7-4) has a clever submission game and improving her striking. She’s going to need it against hard-nosed wrestler Alisha Zappitella (4-0, 1 no contest).

Jamie Moyle (4-3) will also be returning to her old stomping grounds in Invicta, but has unfortunately missed weight by nine pounds. She has been fined 25% of her purse as a result, and her fight wieth opponent Brianna Van Buren (4-2) will still take place.

Bantamweights Sarah Kleczka (2-1) and Brittney Grizzelle (2-0) look to establish themselves in Invicta’s bantamweight division. Meanwhile, Chanel Coates and Ashlynn Kleinbeck make their pro debuts as they face each other.
