Earlier this week, UFC newcomer Ben Askren called out Kamaru Usman on Instagram, calling the top welterweight contender a ‘hypocrite’ and ‘a little b-tch.’
It didn’t take long for Usman to reply, as ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ promised to ‘flatline’ Askren if the former ONE FC and Bellator welterweight champion keeps running his mouth on social media.
“I’m a realist. I’m the type of person who’s never said never,” Usman stated on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show (via BJPenn.com) in response to Askren’s remarks. “It is what it is at the end of the day, but let’s be honest, I will flatline that curly-headed f*ck boy. That’s pretty much it. I will flatline him. I will flatline that dude. Like let him run his mouth all he wants, I will flatline him.
Usman, who recently thrashed former lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos at The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale, has reportedly been offered a headlining slot opposite Colby Covington at UFC 233. Covington, however, feels he is deserving of a title shot against Tyron Woodley, the current champion.
As for Askren, who recently traded places with Demetrious Johnson from ONE FC to the UFC, the 34-year-old will look to take on Robbie Lawler at UFC 233. The highly anticipated pay-per-view takes place next month, Jan. 26 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
