Junior dos Santos wants fourth fight with Velasquez and rematch with Miocic: ‘They are not better than me’

Junior dos Santos wants to avenge his losses to Cain Velasquez and Stipe Miocic.

Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez were once considered the creme de la creme of the UFC heavyweight division, and both men completed one of the most epic trilogies in UFC history.

Dos Santos knocked out Velasquez to win the heavyweight title at UFC on FOX 1 but Velasquez rallied back to win both rematches in dominant fashion, beating his Brazilian rival to a pulp at UFC 155 and UFC 166.

It’s been over five years since their last outing, and dos Santos would like a fourth fight with Velasquez to settle the score.

Speaking to Submission Radio in a recent interview, dos Santos said he wants to rematch Velasquez, Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem, all of whom hold victories over the UFC veteran.

“That would be great to have a fourth fight with Velasquez,” Dos Santos said. “No doubt I would love to fight him again, I would love to fight Miocic again. And maybe even Alistair Overeem. He did great in his last fight, so maybe we can have also a rematch. I wanna fight this guy. Because in my mind I committed mistakes in those fights. That’s why they won. They are not better than me. And if they think that’s done, it’s not done. The only way it’s done is if they go away like Cain Velasquez is doing – going away. Then it’s done. If they stay here and they fight in the UFC, it’s not done and I’m coming for them.”

Depending on the outcome of UFC Fight Night 142, where dos Santos takes on undefeated heavyweight prospect Tai Tuivasa in the main event, the 34-year-old may very well go on to avenge his losses to Miocic and Overeem.

Velasquez, however, has been sidelined with injuries since 2016 and there is no sign of the former champ returning to the Octagon anytime soon.

UFC Fight Night: dos Santos vs. Tuivasa takes place this weekend, Dec. 2 at Adelaide Entertainment Center in Adelaide, Australia.
