Well, I never thought I would have to write a word about an upcoming Chuck Liddell fight, but here I am. This Saturday ‘The Iceman’ return-eth to take on his favourite foe Tito Ortiz.

Liddell and Ortiz have done battle twice before, both times in the confines of the UFC Octagon. The first time they tangled was back in 2004 at UFC 47. Liddell won that fight via a second round KO. They fought again at UFC 66 in 2006. Liddell won again, via TKO in the third round and defended his UFC light heavyweight title in the process.

Liddell and Ortiz were scheduled to fight a third time in the UFC, after coaching opposite each other on the 11th season of The Ultimate Fighter. But Ortiz injured his neck for the umpteenth time and had to be replaced mid-season by Rich Franklin. Liddell then lost to Franklin in the first round at UFC 115 in 2010. That was Liddell’s last pro fight.

Ortiz has been more active since leaving the UFC after a loss to Forrest Griffin in 2012. He’s fought four times in Bellator, beating Alexander Shlemenko, Stephan Bonnar, and Chael Sonnen.

Supporting the light heavyweight main event between Liddell and Ortiz is a smattering of semi-known names. The main card is rounded out by Deron Winn vs. Tom Lawlor (light heavyweight), Gleison Tibau vs. Efrain Escudero (catchweight), Walel Watson vs. Ricardo Palacios (featherweight), and Albert Morales vs. James Barnes (bantamweight).

The undercard is headlined by Jay Silva vs. Oscar Cota (heavyweight) and also features Joe Roye vs. Fernie Garcia (featherweight), Jose Huerta vs. Francisco Estrada (featherweight), Joseph Henle vs. Keith Berry (light heavyweight), Craig Wilderson vs. Joshua Jones (welterweight) and Dave Terrel vs. Johnny Cisneros (middleweight).
