UFC 230 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the fourth episode for this weekend’s big show in New York City, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
We start off at Renzo Gracie’s academy with Daniel Cormier doing a workout. He spars with the guy that he was teasing in the last episode, who gets some more camera time out of it. Ray Longo meets up with Chris Weidman and Gian Villante. As usual, Longo cracks a joke about Villante’s face.
Over at MSG, Weidman and Jacare Souza are cordial. Weidman says he stared him down the whole time though. And he says Jacare looked away first. The open workouts are out on the basketball court, and Jacare’s team teaches him how to shoot before he gets out there. And he makes his attempt! Weidman does his workout too.
Derrick Lewis is out next. He talks with the fans, which he likes doing, but says he’s not in this to be famous. He’s just taking care of his family. Cormier, with his pants impossibly high, says he could fight for three more years, but doesn’t see why he would. He does his workout, gets some encouragement from fans, and hits a three-pointer. Not bad.
Weidman goes shopping, and gets called to do media while he’s there. So he sits on the floor and films a segment via phone with Michael Bisping. Okay. Derek Brunson is in his hotel room with his kid, talking about killing time before the fight. Israel Adesanya does a photo shoot in Times Square, then takes a pic with some NYPD officers.
And that’s it! UFC 230 goes down in MSG tomorrow night.
