Watch Cris Cyborg get slapped hard in prep for UFC 219 bout against Holly Holm

The UFC women’s featherweight champion took the Clay Guida route to get ready for her first UFC title defense.

When it comes to getting ready for a fight, you gotta do what you gotta do. For some fighters that means taking a nap, for others it means doing some light pad-work, and a few even have to throw up once or twice, just to get the jitters out. For some fighters, however, there’s no better way to get set to get punched than by starting early.

Clay Guida famously has his brother Jason slap him in the face a few times before entering the cage. And it looks like he’s not the only one. UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg recently took to Instagram to show fans a little behind the scenes footage from her backstage prep for UFC 219. Notably, boxing coach Jason Parillo delivering a hard slap right in the face.

“Be ready!” she wrote on social media. “Forget WuTang...#CyborgNation is nothing to mess with! @parilloboxing heeeeey!

“Before the war!!!!! It’s been a while since..” Cyborg added in Portuguese. “But only this time they filmed! Heyy just to check if the spirit did not escape kkkk!”

Cyborg went on to take what should have been a clear unanimous decision victory over Holly Holm, but ended up much closer on the score cards. Now, with her first successful title defense out of the way, fans are waiting to see who’s next.
