South Korean UFC prospect Doo Ho Choi, better known as The Korean Superboy, is still recovering from injury but the 26-year-old can’t wait to return to the Octagon and continue to climb the featherweight ladder.

“I have almost recovered from my injuries and I’m back training,” Choi told Jim Edwards of MMA Uno in a recent interview. I got a shoulder injury as a result of excessive strength training and I want to apologize firstly to my fans and secondly my opponent, Andre Fili. I think Andre Fili is a great fighter, but I see he has a fight now with another opponent so I’m open to fighting someone else.”

Choi, who made his UFC debut in 2014 and has quickly become known as one of the most exciting fighters in the 145-pound division, doesn’t have a particular opponent in mind for his return but is ‘interested’ in Jose Aldo.

“There are no fighters who I really want to fight, but I want a ranked fighter next. I’m interested in a fight with Jose Aldo and I want to fight him,” he said.

Aldo, the former two-time featherweight champion, recently lost the belt to Max Holloway and wants to rebound at the upcoming UFC 217 pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Choi last fought at UFC 206 where he dropped a decision to Cub Swanson. Despite losing, The Korean Superboy earned scores of fans with his gritty performance, fighting toe-to-toe with Swanson for five-rounds despite being rocked on several occasions.

The No. 12 ranked contender believes he has learned a lot from the loss (his first in the UFC) and plans to come back stronger than ever.

“I think I’ve got stronger during the time I’ve been out,” Choi said. “I’m a different fighter from what I used to be. I had a summer vacation, but I also spent a lot of my time training. It’s just not just physically I’ve improved either. I think I’ve made many mental improvements in regards to my thoughts and direction. I think that I’m not far from the top. I hope to concentrate on my next fight right now. I’ll show my performance soon.”

His desired opponent, Aldo, is anticipated to rematch Swanson although ‘Scarface’ isn’t sure whether ‘Killer Cub’ will be ready to fight by the end of the year.
