With a trilogy match possibly in the cards for December, Nate Diaz didn’t pass up the opportunity to smack-talk UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor for his 10th round TKO defeat to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Diaz, who believed that McGregor had a great chance of beating Floyd, went on Instagram and took a shot at McGregor’s statement that Mayweather would “need to reincarnate Bruce Lee” to prepare for him.

In case the Instagram embed is not working for you, here’s the full text:

He punched himself out the same way he lost in the Ufc there was no learning goin on.. #overpromotion bullshit get off the nuts this the shit I'm talking about Bruce Lee would've never lost like that.#realninjashit

Diaz is obviously referring to his UFC 196 win over McGregor, in which the Irishman fatigued badly in round 2 before being submitted by rear-naked choke. Disaster nearly struck for him again in the UFC 202 rematch, but McGregor crucially won round 4 and ultimately the majority decision. Against Mayweather, Conor had success in the early rounds by being busier and landing more punches (while Floyd barely threw anything of consequence), but he again faded and was stopped without a knockdown, as Mayweather landed multiple clean punches on an exhausted McGregor.

There’s been much speculation as to whether or not we’ll see a rubber match between Nate and Conor. It looks as if McGregor will return to the UFC following his venture into the boxing world, but Diaz’s coach says that the UFC should pay Diaz upwards of $20 million for the trilogy. McGregor has said that Diaz, who has spent most of his career at lightweight but has since turned into the most enormous welterweight in recorded history, would have to come down to 155 to fight him.
