On April 24th, 2015, the UFC went to the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada for UFC 186. The main event was a flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and exciting Japanese striker Kyoji Horiguchi. Johnson was predictably a huge favorite, as he’d already established himself as a dominant champion, while Horiguchi was still very much a prospect who was on a winning streak and otherwise hadn’t already lost to Johnson before.
Johnson was well on his way to winning this one by decision, but “Mighty Mouse” wasn’t satisfied with going to the scorecards. With literally one second left in round 5, Johnson submitted Horiguchi with an armbar, thus managing the latest finish in UFC history.

Here’s Tim Burke’s play-by-play of the final round:
Round 5 - Immediate takedown from Johnson. Horiguchi trying to make something happen on the bottom but DJ's not having any of that. Hori got up, just to go back down. Sound familiar? Horiguchi gave up his back to spin away and get back to the feet, but DJ's all over him and gets him right back to the floor. This time against the cage. DJ passed to side. Knee to the body from DJ. Horiguchi back up. Body kick from Johnson. Back to the ground. Johnson trapped and arm and dropped a gaggle of punches, then spun to grab an armbar. He got Horiguchi to tap with one second to go! WOW! That's obviously the latest sub of all time. Wow.
Demetrious Johnson defeats Kyoji Horiguchi by submission (armbar), 4:59 of round five
