The build continues. While Ronda Rousey is likely done with MMA fighting, she does seem quite interested in doing some work in pro wrestling. It’s no secret that the recently-married former UFC champion has been a life-long fan of sports entertainment and has previously taken part in an angle at WrestleMania 31 with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Now, it looks like she’s taking her friends along for the ride.

Rousey, Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir, and Shayna Baszler refer to themselves as the Four Horsewomen, an homage to an old school stable of pro wrestlers led by the legendary Ric Flair. With Baszler moving to her own successful pro wrestling career after her MMA run, she was invited to participate in the Mae Young Classic, a tournament spotlighting the best female performers in the world not already signed to the the WWE.

Back in July during the initial tapings, Rousey and her friends showed up to cheer on their friend, only to be mocked by another group of ladies across the walkway. Those three ladies are members of the WWE’s version of the Four Horsewomen, built around Flair’s daughter Charlotte. The others are Bayley, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks (the latter not being in attendance).

Naturally, the WWE wanted to further this confrontation due to Rousey’s star power and Baszler making the finals of the tournament. So they filmed this vignette with Rousey, Duke, and Shafir talking only to be confronted by Charlotte, Lynch, and Bayley.

Not going to lie - it’s pretty awkward. But they’ll use it to set up the Mae Young Classic finals which air live on September 12th on the WWE Network and feature Baszler taking on Japanese star Kairi Sane. Rousey and her friends will obviously be there, as will the WWE Horsewomen.
