According to a report from Brazilian MMA outlet Combate, former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Ricardo Lamas have agreed to a rematch in December, although no specific date has been confirmed.

Aldo, who lost the featherweight title to Max Holloway at UFC 212, fought Lamas in a championship tilt in 2014 and cruised to a unanimous decision. ‘Scarface’ was rumored to fight Cub Swanson but that bout has failed to materialize due to Swanson and his wife having a baby.

Aldo says a fight with Lamas isn’t confirmed, but he expects an official announcement in the coming weeks.

“It’s not 100 percent because we haven’t signed the contract yet,” Aldo told Combate, per MMA Junkie. “(But) it’s certain and I’m waiting for the day to fight.”

Aldo was hoping to fulfill his dream and fight at the New York pay-per-view on Nov. 4, but it’s looking like his rematch with Lamas will take place in December. There are two PPV’s scheduled for December: UFC 218 on Dec. 2 in Detroit, and UFC 219 on Dec. 30 at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.

His targeted opponent, Lamas, is on a two-fight win streak and last fought at UFC 214, finishing Jason Knight with a barrage of strikes in the first round. ‘The Bully’ is currently ranked as the No. 3 featherweight contender in the world, per UFC rankings.
