An enticing encounter has been set up in the increasingly stacked bantamweight division. UFC officials announced on Wednesday that Pedro Munhoz will take on Rob Font in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Saturday, October 28th.
Munhoz (14-2, 1 NC) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Damian Stasiak at UFC Stockholm in May. The Sao Paulo native has won three straight, including submission finishes over Justin Scoggins and Russell Doane. His only career losses are to current top-5 contenders Raphael Assuncao and Jimmie Rivera, both of which were by decision.
Font (14-2) has compiled a record of 4-1 inside the Octagon, including a scintillating performance against Douglas Silva de Andrade, whom he submitted by guillotine at UFC 213 in July. He also holds wins over George Roop, Matt Schnell, and Joey Gomez. Font’s sole UFC loss was by decision to John Lineker at UFC 198 in May 2016.
Both Munhoz and Font are in the UFC’s current bantamweight rankings, with Munhoz at #13 and Font at #13.
UFC Fight Night: Sao Paulo is headlined by a middleweight bout between Lyoto Machida, who is returning from his 18-month USADA suspension, and the heavy-handed Derek Brunson. The night’s main card airs live on Fox Sports 1.
