Randa Markos speaks out about her split decision loss to Alexa Grasso in Mexico City on Saturday night

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Markos vs Grasso Miguel Tovar-USA TODAY Sports

The co-main event feature between strawweights Randa Markos and Alexa Grasso was one of the noteworthy fights on Saturday night’s card in Mexico City. Grasso ended up eking a split decision victory in front of her home country, a verdict that Markos has put into question.

Markos, who has now lost three of her last five fights, was also disappointed in the fact that she was not given the Fight of the Night honors, which merited a $50,000 bonus.

In a post-fight interview with MMA Junkie, the Windsor-based fighter says she believes she won two rounds of the fight, which then should warrant her the win.

“I felt that I did enough to win,” Markos said. “I think you need to win at least two rounds to have a victory. I thought I won two rounds and was close to the first one. So I think I won that fight.”

“I felt that I won at least two of those rounds. The first round was very, very close, but I did definitely win the last two rounds.”

Markos adds that many of those who saw the fight believe that she should have been awarded the victory and that she plans to make a case for it.

“I heard a lot of people here in the stadium feel that I won that fight. I think I’m gonna definitely try and fight that, hopefully, get the victory.”

With the loss, Markos drops to a record of 7-5.
