Floyd Mayweather Jr. moved to a gaudy 50-0 record with a 10th round victory over pro-boxing debutante (and two time UFC champion) Conor McGregor. The American’s TKO victory was his first stoppage since he defeated Victor Ortiz (in controversial fashion) in 2011.
Showtime Sports’ SHOstats reveal the tremendous accuracy shown by the presumably retired Mayweather as he worked his way to a historic victory. Below are the numbers or punches thrown and landed for both Mayweather and McGregor.
FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR.
Jabs landed: 18 of 59 (31%)
Power punches landed: 152 of 261 (58%)
Total punches landed: 170 of 320 (53%)
CONOR MCGREGOR
Jabs landed: 27 of 98 (28%)
Power punches landed: 84 of 332 (25%)
Total punches landed: 111 of 430 (26%)
The success rate behind Mayweather’s punches are drastically different from his last mega-fight. When ‘Money’ defeated Manny Pacquiao in 2015, his overall success rate (according to COMPUBOX) was 34%. Pacquaio only managed to land 19% of his punches in that fight.
