Yesterday afternoon, the Mayweather-McGregor world tour kicked off in sunny California. After a 40-minute delay, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor made his way to the podium for an impromptu “speech,” whipping the crowd into a frenzy with ease, despite not having advanced warning the presser wouldn’t follow the UFC’s standard. His recovery was swift, and throughout it all, the 49-0 Mayweather looked on silently.

When it was Mayweather’s turn to take the podium, McGregor listened and became visibly agitated with some of what Mayweather was saying, so he commandeered a microphone to respond. Only a couple of his barbs would be heard, though, as officials had the mic turned off post haste.

McGregor told print reporters after the event that he felt the mic muting was intentional, stating the following, as reported by MMAFighting.com:

“Yeah, they took the mic off. Look, f*ck them. F*ck Showtime. F*ck them all. They can do nothing after Aug. 26. They can try and do all these tricks all they want. Aug. 26, this man will be unconscious. He’s too small, he’s too frail. That’s it. What more can I say?”

“The Notorious” would be treated to a healthy dose of heckling when Floyd Mayweather, Sr. showed up to engage the UFC star in a healthy dose of insult-slinging of his own during McGregor’s conference with print media reporters. The press tour continues in Toronto this evening at 6 PM EST.
