The co-main event for Bellator NYC witnessed Matt Mitrione and Fedor Emelianenko drop each other with a heavy punch at the same exact time, but it was Mitrione who recovered first, to finish off Fedor with ground strikes. When was the last time you saw a top flight double knockdown? What a crazy ending to this heavyweight bout. With a gigantic win for Mitrione, he is certainly sitting at the top of Bellator’s heavyweight division, but what will be next for Fedor?
Matt Mitrione def. Fedor Emelianenko by KO at 1:14 of round 1: Heavyweight
Check out Tim Burke’s play-by-play of Mitrione taking out Fedor:
Round 1 - Mitrione dancing on the outside. Fedor waiting for him. Fedor throws the first strike, a leg kick, after 45 seconds. They both dropped each other at the same time with punches! WHOA! THAT WAS ALMOST A DOUBLE KNOCKOUT! But Mitrione is up first and he jumps all over Fedor! It’s over! Fedor is out cold!
