As Rafael notes, the guarantees for both Canelo and Chavez Jr. is much higher than what’s written on the sheet. Beibut Shumenov once had a purse of $1 for a fight against Enrique Ornelas, and that was a FOX Sports main event, so don’t take these numbers at face value.

Alvarez has a TV deal with Azteca, while Chavez Jr. is with rival Mexican network Televisa. They’ve both switched networks in recent years, and once upon a time Canelo did better ratings on Televisa when going head-to-head with Chavez Jr vs. Sergio Martinez. Presumably the money that’s guaranteed from their respective networks has been left off the payout sheet. This is such a major fight that both Televisa and Azteca will televise Saturday’s contest, which is something they’ve only done for Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.
