The Bellator MMA debut of Rory MacDonald is finally here ... and it’s on tape delay in both the United States and United Kingdom. That’s fantastic stuff. And my fantastic I mean annoying as hell.
Anyway, MacDonald is taking on Paul Daley in the main event of Bellator 179 in London, with the winner getting a title shot against the winner of next month’s title fight between Douglas Lima and Lorenz Larkin.
Here’s the deal with how we plan to cover this event: This is the place where you can discuss the card and do spoilers of fight results. The event airs in the UK at 4 PM ET-5 PM ET (9-10 PM local time) on Spike UK, followed by Channel 5's coverage from 5-7 PM ET (10 PM-Midnight local time). UK coverage is delayed by one hour, while it’s obviously much longer for the US. There is to be no illegal stream sharing in the comments section, or else it'll be hidden and you will be banned for the weekend.
At 9 PM ET, Eddie Mercado will do "as-live" play-by-play of the Spike broadcast, with a results post following soon after. We’re essentially playing pretend to an extent, but hey, some of you may be able to hold out and not see any of the results until 9 PM.
So for the next few hours, you can either hang out here and not wait until it airs in the United States, or just leave this post immediately and wait until night time to discuss fights that already happened. We will have the main card results posted here after the live event is finished.
