After one of the biggest and most improbable comeback wins in recent UFC history, featherweight veteran Darren Elkins looks to have his next fight lined up.
MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani reported on Friday that Elkins is set to take on Dennis Bermudez at UFC on FOX 25 at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, New York.

UFC officials have not announced the matchup themselves.
Elkins (22-5) is riding a four-fight winning streak, with his most recent victory coming in extraordinary fashion against Mirsad Bektic at UFC 209. Having been dominated over the course of two rounds, Elkins needed to finish the undefeated Bektic in the third, and he did just that with a head kick and punches. It was Elkins’ first finish in four years and the only clean KO of his entire career.
Bermudez (16-6) is coming off a devastating KO loss to Chan Sung Jung in the UFC Houston main event back in February. The native of Long Island had previously defeated both Tatsuya Kawajiri and Rony Jason by unanimous decision, and the height of his success came during his seven-fight winning run from 2012-2014. Bermudez’s historically suspect defense has led to him being knocked out twice in his last four bouts, and knocked down seven times over the course of his thirteen-fight career.
Current UFC rankings have Elkins at #12 and Bermudez at #10.
UFC on FOX 25 goes down on Saturday, July 22nd and is headlined by a five-round middleweight bout between Long Island’s own Chris Weidman and Kelvin Gastelum. A bantamweight tilt featuring Jimmie Rivera and Thomas Almeida is also scheduled for this event.
