As UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor awaits the birth of his child, the queue to meet him next in a contest of martial skill has grown yet again. The latest athlete to call him out via social media is—you guessed it—another boxer.
Reigning WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko has made his intentions known, and he did it in Ninja Turtle training wear. Now, that is how you call someone out. The 2008 Olympic gold medalist issued this challenge via Twitter:
“@TheNotoriousMMA NinjaTurtle Lomanchelo waiting for you in the ring.I can test you”

The growing list of boxers that have issued fighting words to McGregor includes Floyd Mayweather (recently unretired), Paulie Malignaggi (recently retired), Ricardo Mayorga (retired), Manny Pacquiao (active) and now Lomachenko. Vasyl may be a little undersized for “The Notorious,” but as a slobbering, rabid fan of the Ukranian boxing god, I would pay big bucks to watch it. Crosses fingers.
The 130lb king of the ring is known for his exceptional hand speed, lateral foot movement and accuracy. “Hi-Tech” is considered by many to have been the greatest amateur boxer of all time, and as a professional, he is racking up quality wins, already coming in at No. 5 on the BoxRec P4P rankings list.
As a little bonus for my fellow Lomachenko fans, here’s a clip of him working the speed bag in his “Lomanchelo” gear:
