According to VanZant’s tweet, the former Dancing With The Stars contestant will be the first title challenger to face the winner of The Ultimate Fighter: A New World Champion. The current edition of the long running UFC reality series will crown the promotions inaugural women’s flyweight champion.
Moments after VanZant’s announcement, Brett Okamoto of ESPN reported that UFC officials had told him that there were ‘no plans’ of a title fight featuring VanZant being ‘formalized as of right now.’

The current TUF competition features competitors such as Roxanne Modafferi, Lauren Murphy, and Barb Honchak. At this time of writing, the remaining women in the competition - along with Modaggeri and Honchak are Emily Whitmire, Sijara Eubanks, DeAnna Bennett, Rachael Ostovich-Berdon, Montana Stewart, and Nicco Montano.
The winner of the season will be determined at The Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale on December 1st.
VanZant last fought in December, 2016 - where she lost to Michelle Waterson via a first round choke. Prior to that she defeated Bec Rawlings via TKO. VanZant’s overall record in the UFC’s strawweight division is 4-2.
