UFC 218 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the first episode for this weekend’s big show in Detroit, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
Francis Ngannou is hiking in Red Rock Canyon. He talks about being able to eat whatever he wants as a heavyweight, and takes in the nice views. He then does a workout at the UFC Performance Institute where they (him and his coach) talk a bit about what they’re doing.
Alistair Overeem is working out at Jackson-Wink in Albuquerque, specifically working on his neck muscles to be able to absorb big heavyweight punches. He even lifts a weight with his head. It’s worth a watch just to see that. He then gets some people together for a good lunch before he heads out of town to do media.
Things head down to Brazil, where Jose Aldo is working out at Nova Uniao. They talk about getting the title shot call on short notice and how Aldo can fight more aggressively now that he’s fighting for the title and not defending it. Then they clown around a bit.
Finally, it’s off to the mean streets (or airport) of Detroit, where UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway has just arrived. He’s cold. He complains about it. He then puts on a toque (beanie, wool cap, call it what you want), and reps the Toronto Raptors.
And that’s it! UFC 218 goes down this Saturday night in Detroit.
