Where Michael Bisping goes, Jorge Masvidal follows.

When Anderson Silva was forced out of the UFC Shanghai main event due to a USADA issue, it surprised many when former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping stepped in to fight Kelvin Gastelum. But Bisping didn’t just engage Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217 - he also made an enemy of welterweight Jorge Masvidal, with whom he shared two incidents of of trash talk in the week leading up to the PPV event.

Bisping has engaged in this sort of thing with countless fighters, but Masvidal isn’t the type to forgive quickly. He wants to fight Bisping, and he doesn’t care about the weight difference. When he was offered a trip to Shanghai to do some promotional work for the UFC, he wasn’t all that hyped about the long travel schedule - until he found out Bisping was on the card (via MMA Junkie):

“Yeah, I would go up (in weight) in a heartbeat. I didn’t want to be on a long flight, but when I heard Bisping was taking the fight, I said, ‘For sure take me to China just in case Gastelum does’t make over there.’ But I don’t like the dude, so I’ll fight him at any weight class, any weight – doesn’t matter.”

He explained that he had already run into Bisping in Shanghai, and Bisping did a bit of talking. Bisping was with his family though, so Masvidal didn’t engage him. But that doesn’t mean anything - Gamebred will take him on any time:

“I already made it clear: I’ll fight that guy anywhere, bro,” he said. “I’m not going to say I’d do it for free because then the UFC might not pay me, but I’d fight him anywhere.

“For him, it’s whatever, whenever. I dislike the guy genuinely.”
