An online war of words came to a head when UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping confronted welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal in their hotel lobby as they both prepare for bouts at UFC 217 at Madison Square Garden.
Their rivalry began this past July when Masvidal took to Twitter after Bisping ripped up the Cuban flag in an attempt to anger Yoel Romero before his UFC 213 title fight against Robert Whittaker. Masvidal was not amused and called out the brash Brit champ on his antics.
That apparently led to this incident today. The video was posted to social media by Masvidal’s manager Abraham Kawa who was by Masvidal’s side through the brief altercation.
Bisping starts by saying that Masvidal is “going to get his ass kicked” by Stephen Thompson this weekend, and repeatedly calls him trash. They both call each other “punk b-tch”. Masvidal responds by saying “I’ll f—k you up” a bunch of times while trying to wave his hand in his face. Bisping comes back calling him trash again (and referencing fellow Cuban Yoel Romero as trash as well), then starts talking about having some class (the irony in that). Masvidal says he’ll still kick his ass despite Bisping having 40 pounds on him.
Unfortunately, Masvidal ends the talk as Bisping gets in the elevator with a homophobic slur, calling Bisping a “fa—ot” right as the video ends.
Bisping will defending his title against Georges St-Pierre in the headliner this weekend in New York. Masvidal meets Thompson in a welterweight top contender matchup.
