Video: Boxing manager goes on profanity-laced tirade at press conference

Don’t laugh at Avni Yildirim’s manager, or else bad things are going to happen.

The World Boxing Super Series 168-pound tournament continues this weekend with a matchup in Stuttgart, Germany between Chris Eubank Jr. (25-1, 19 KOs) and the undefeated Avni Yildirim (16-0, 10 KOs), who has spent most of his career fighting in Germany. Wednesday was the final pre-fight press conference for this quarterfinal matchup, and it was Yildirim’s manager who stole the show with his uh... very interesting outburst.

Ahmet Öner took issue with a member of Team Eubank, who initially was off-camera in the video below, so Öner approached the man and called him a “son of a b-tch,” and then said, “fight me, you c-nt!” When the Team Eubank man apparently laughed at Öner, that was enough to completely turn him loose.

“Don’t laugh at me! When you laugh again, you son of a b-tch, I f—k your... I’ll f—k your wife in your bed!” Öner said.

In the aftermath of this little fracas, Öner went to Twitter and alleged that the Team Eubank member made racist remarks towards him.

Evidently Öner is very easily set off by anything related to laughing at a press conference. He took issue with Wladimir Klitschko when David Haye brawled Dereck Chisora at the Vitali Klitschko vs. Dereck Chisora post-fight presser back in 2012.

The most controversial moment of Öner’s career occurred in 2008, when Konstantin Airich fought Danny Williams. While the main story was the insanely incompetent refereeing by Alfredo Garcia Perez, Öner inserted himself into things by actually ringing the bell to end round six with 1:35 left. Airich was on the verge of being knocked out, so Öner, who was his promoter at the time, took (very illegal) action. The fight ended in the next round when Airich’s corner threw in the towel.

Anyway, you can catch Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Avni Yildirim on Saturday, October 7th live on ITV Box Office in the UK, the AUDIENCE Network in the US, Super Channel in Canada, or on the live stream (in select countries).
