Conor McGregor may be from Dublin, but he has spent plenty of time over the last few years in Las Vegas. The UFC lightweight champion has competed in the city five times for the promotion, and Vegas also played host to his boxing megafight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. last month.

In the aftermath of the terrible mass shooting at Mandalay Bay that left scores of concert goers dead, McGregor issued an Instagram statement in regards to the incident:

“Absolutely devastated upon hearing the news in Las Vegas. A city with so much energy and life. A city of celebration and enjoyment. A city so close to my heart. I pray for all the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this senseless act of violence.”

The UFC will be donating one million dollars to the families of the victims, and UFC 216 is still scheduled to go forward at the T-Mobile Arena this weekend.
