On Saturday, October 28th at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, WBA and IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (19-0, 19 KOs) puts his titles on the line against short-notice injury replacement Carlos Takam (35-3-1, 27 KOs), who has given a couple of top contenders some tough fights in the past, but has yet to manage a truly great win. It’s expected that 80,000 fans will pack the venue, as Joshua continues to command top dollar in the red-hot British boxing market.
Before we see Joshua vs. Takam, here’s a flashback to this past April, when Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko filled Wembley Stadium for their enormous UK pay-per-view clash. It was billed as a potential passing of the torch moment, and it was a fight that lived up to the hype. Four knockdowns were exchanged in total, and Joshua was able to put away the once-dominant Ukrainian in the penultimate round, much to the unforgettable roar of the crowd. It’s truly one of the best moments in combat sports this year, and Showtime has released the full video, which you can watch at the top of the page. Here are the important timestamps:
Start of fight: 16:52
Start of round 5 (Klitschko knocked down, but rallies back): 32:50
Start of round 6 (Joshua knocked down): 36:55
Start of round 11 (Joshua drop Klitschko twice, then stops him standing): 57:09
If you want the cliff notes version, I recommend this fan-made video, which has the British commentary.
Showtime will televise Joshua vs. Takam at 5:15 PM ET/2:15 PM PT.
