The recent mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada has left much of the country shaken. At latest count, 58 people had been killed and an additional 515 injured by a gunman firing onto a crowd of concert goers from a room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. This tragedy is currently the largest deadly shooting in modern U.S. history.
It also comes just under a week out from the UFC’s latest PPV event in Vegas, which has served as base of operations for the promotion for the better part of the last two decades. The UFC took to social media today, to offer a brief statement on the events that have disturbed the nation and traumatized the city it calls home.

Several fighters on the UFC 216 fight card have issued their own statements as well.

“Sad. Pray for the victims families,” Derrick Lewis wrote in an Instagram post including footage of the shooting. “Over 50 dead and over 400 injured in Vegas last night”

No word yet as to whether the UFC’s event will go ahead as planned. In addition, the City of Las Vegas has provided several avenues for those looking to help and/or for information on missing loved ones.
