Jorge Masvidal and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone put on for the Denver crowd in the UFC on FOX 23 co-main event. “Cowboy” worked his kicks to the legs and body early on, but it was Masvidal who landed the big shot at the end of the first round that dropped Cerrone. Masvidal blitz Cerrone with ground strikes, but Herb Dean stepped in just as the round expired. The second stanza did not last very long as Masvidal landed another big right hand that dropped “Cowboy.” Cerrone was able to scramble to his feet but Masvidal started to rip to the body, forcing the referee to call the standing TKO. This was a huge win for Jorge Masvidal and should earn him another top 10 opponent in his next outing.
