Despite recent developments, the Floyd Mayeather-Conor McGregor boxing match remains to be barbershop talk. That doesn’t mean such a fantasy fight could not be turned into some sort of reality.
Film director and photographer Adam Arnali has grown some popularity on Youtube, interpreting real-life and turning it into video game classics. Recently, he created a spoof of the high-profile on-paper bout between Floyd Mayweather and UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor, in the style of 80’s Nintendo hit “Mike Tyson’s Punch Out!!”
Almost two weeks ago, the said match-up went “from pipe dream to exploratory phase.” UFC president Dana White already made his first move by offering a guaranteed $25 million to both men, plus a cut of the pay-per-view earnings. Mayweather simply laughed off the idea, stating he was making such a sum of money a decade ago.
Mayweather, from his end, believes the “best business move” at this point in his career would be fighting McGregor, which is why White believes the retired undefeated boxer will eventually come around and accept the offer, since $25 million ‘isn’t peanuts.’
McGregor, on the the other hand, did get himself a boxing license in the state of California, but remains to be unclear about his next career move.
With the fight still a distant possibility, fans would just have to make do with this 8-bit rendition of it, for now, at least.
