In the co-main event of Bellator 170, welterweight KO specialist Paul Daley delivered what will unquestionably go down as one of the knockouts of the year. Fellow knockout artist “Irish” Brennan Ward got absolutely blasted by the Brit’s flying knee, and it marked the first finish of the night’s main card.
As expected, these two wasted no time going toe-to-toe. A right hand caught Ward’s attention. Daley was taken down by Ward, and then ate a couple of big shots as he got back to his feet. “Semtex” jarred Ward with a good left hook, and Ward got himself another takedown. Daley separated from Ward with a spinning back elbow, which definitely had Ward buzzed, and then annihilated Ward with a flying knee that put Ward out cold. A truly spectacular finish by Daley, who rebounds from a loss to Douglas Lima with a brutal stoppage of Ward, who had to be taken out of the cage via stretcher.
Official result: Paul Daley def. Brennan Ward via KO (flying knee) at 2:27 of round 1
