Gegard Mousasi vs. Chris Weidman scheduled for UFC 210

The first matchup is set for UFC 210, and it’s a big one.

MMA: UFC 204-Belfort vs Mousasi Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

Gegard Mousasi has been on the campaign trail of late, trying to talk the top middleweights into fighting him. Well, it appears that his badgering worked - he now has a marquee fight at UFC 210. The former Strikeforce and Dream champion will meet former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman.

Mark La Monica of Newsday was the first to report the fight.

Mousasi (41-6-2, 8-3 UFC) has been on a tear of late, winning his last four bouts. The last three have come via stoppage over the likes of Thiago Santos, Vitor Belfort, and Uriah Hall.

Weidman (13-2, 9-2 UFC) has been stopped in his last two bouts, losing his title to Luke Rockhold and getting KO’d by the flying knee of Yoel Romero at UFC 205.

Late last month, Mousasi called out a “scared” Weidman, but Weidman said he was still recovering from his last fight. Now we’ll actually get to see it.

UFC 210 goes down in Buffalo, New York on April 8th.
