There clearly is unfinished business between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones. A rematch was supposed to happen at UFC 200 last July, but was scrapped after Jones failed his pre-fight drug test.
“Bones” is now serving a one-year suspension for the said violation, and is not expected to be back until July of this year. Cormier, meanwhile, is still waiting for his next fight date, but has remained adamant that he wants the rematch come to fruition, no matter what happens.
“My life and career would not be okay if I had to walk away and not share the Octagon with that man again,” Cormier told FOX Sports’ Colin Cowheard.
Jones claims he took a tainted sexual-performance pill which led to his failed drug test. But even if Jones was “being elevated” by a PED, Cormier does not mind at all.
“I’d fight him. If that was the case before, then the guy that I’m fighting next time is not going to be the same guy I saw the first time because of USADA and the drug testing that we are under now.”
“But you know what, Colin, yes I would fight him,” Cormier continued. “It doesn’t matter. I have to get the competitor in me and my belief in my coaches and my skill — I have to get that back.”
