Ben Affleck a ‘big Conor McGregor fan’, would ‘love’ to see him fight Floyd Mayweather

Affleck talks about McGregor and his potential boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Hollywood star Ben Affleck has been a fan of Conor McGregor for some time.

During the promotion of last year’s Batman vs. Superman movie, Affleck said Batman’s fighting style was influenced by none other than the Irishman himself.

“He's a little bit more of a brawler. You kind of get a feeling like physical, visceral slugger thing. The fights are more like smash-mouth, kind of UFC-influenced. Like Conor McGregor style,” he revealed in a 2016 interview.

The 44-year-old actor paid homage to the UFC lightweight champion again while promoting his newly-released film, ‘Live by Night’ and said he’d love to see ‘The Notorious’ take on Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.

“I’m a big Conor McGregor fan,” Affleck told Independent.ie. “I think he’s very impressive and someone was saying he’s going to fight (Floyd) Mayweather. That would be an amazing fight. I guess they’ll have to work a deal out, or whatever, but that would be cool.”

A potential showdown between McGregor and Mayweather has picked up steam as of late, with ‘Money’ and UFC head promoter Dana White going back-and-forth in informal negotiations.

Mayweather, 39, offered McGregor $15 million while White said he’d pay both fighters $25 million each, plus pay-per-view shares.

Affleck is one of the 23 high-profile celebrities to buy a small stake in the UFC. WMG-IMG purchased the company for a record-breaking $4 billion in 2016, and the new owners are looking to push MMA into the mainstream.
