Claudia Gadelha is no longer a Nova Uniao fighter. According to Combate, the former strawweight title contender has left the gym following a fight with head coach, Andre Pederneiras.
The beef allegedly started after Gadelha lost her rematch to Joanna Jedrzejczyk on July 8, as Gadelha expressed her unhappiness with the way her training camp was handled at Nova Uniao, which could have cost her the title fight.
The complaint bothered Pederneiras, who argued with Gadelha over the phone, leading to her leaving the gym. Now, Gadelha runs her own gym in Pennsylvania, called Claudia Gadelha's MMA and BJJ Academy, where she's also the head coach.
For her next fight, however, which is not scheduled yet, she will be at Kimura Nova Uniao, a branch of the original Nova Uniao gym, in the city of Natal, Brazil, where she will join the likes of Renan Barao and Jussier Formiga under the care of head coach Jair Lourenco.
