Donald Cerrone vs. Robbie Lawler won’t be happening at UFC 205, but Cerrone will be competing on that Madison Square Garden card on November 12th. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto was told by UFC president Dana White on Wednesday that “Cowboy” will face TUF 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum.

Gastelum (12-2) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Johny Hendricks at UFC 200. He was scheduled to fight Jorge Masvidal at the TUF Latin America 3 Finale on November 5th, but it looks like he’ll just get his return to the Octagon pushed back by only one week, and on a major PPV event. Gastelum is 2-2 in his last 4 fights, including a split decision loss to Neil Magny in last November’s TUF Latin America 2 Finale, but the Hendricks victory has sprung him up to #5 in the UFC’s welterweight rankings.

Cerrone (31-7, 1 NC) has been sensational at welterweight. He’s a perfect 3-0 since moving up from 155 lbs, including knockout wins over Rick Story and Patrick Cote, both of whom had never previously been finished by strikes before they were put away by Cerrone. Donald’s other fight was a 1st round submission vs. Alex Oliveira back in February 2016.

Lawler withdrew from UFC 205 not too long after Dana White said that Cerrone vs. Lawler was a done deal. The recently dethroned welterweight champion reportedly cited that he needed more time to prepare for his return after Tyron Woodley thrashed him in their UFC 201 main event back in July.

As for Masvidal, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani reports that “Gamebred” wants to fight Johny Hendricks.
