Patricio Pitbull's quest to fight lightweight champion Michael Chandler took a devastating turn for the worse, as his Bellator 160 main event vs. Ben Henderson ended with Pitbull unable to continue during the 2nd round after injuring his right leg. He held the advantage after the 1st round, but unfortunately that was the very round in which the injury, which MMA Fighting reports as a broken fibula, occurred.
Below is the X-ray of Pitbull's injury. It's unknown whether or not he'll require surgery, as well as how long he'll be sidelined for.
"Unfortunately I injured my leg in the first round," Pitbull said. "I was still able to fight for half of the second but I felt the bone move. I was doing really well, confident and winning the fight. I'll be back soon."
Henderson will move on to face Michael Chandler for the lightweight title on Saturday, November 19th in San Jose, California.
