Patricio Pitbull's quest to fight lightweight champion Michael Chandler took a devastating turn for the worse, as his Bellator 160 main event vs. Ben Henderson ended with Pitbull unable to continue during the 2nd round after injuring his right leg. He held the advantage after the 1st round, but unfortunately that was the very round in which the injury, which MMA Fighting reports as a broken fibula, occurred.
Below is the X-ray of Pitbull's injury. It's unknown whether or not he'll require surgery, as well as how long he'll be sidelined for.
Unfortunelly I injured my leg in the first round. I was still able to fight for half of the second but I felt the bone move. I was doing really well, confident and winning the fight. I'll be back soon. - Infelizmente lesionei minha perna no primeiro round da luta. Ainda consegui lutar metade do segundo, mas senti o osso sair do lugar. Estava muito bem, confiante e vencendo a luta. Voltarei em breve. #Bellator160 @bellatormma
