UFC fighter rankings: Cerrone, Larkin crack top 10 at 170

UFC 202 didn’t have a huge effect on the rankings, but a couple of welterweights are moving on up.

For such a big PPV, UFC 202 didn’t really cause much of a ripple in the ranking. That could partially be due to the headliners fighting outside their natural weight class, and it could be because at a lot of favorites won. But one division was impacted, both by the results last Saturday and a major defection - welterweight.

Without further ado, here’s the breakdown of the changes in each division in the wake of UFC 202.

P4P - Luke Rockhold moved up one spot to 12, bumping Rafael dos Anjos to 13.

Heavyweight - No changes.

Light Heavyweight - Glover Teixeira’s 13-second loss to Anthony Johnson saw him fall a spot in the rankings to three. Alexander Gustafsson moved up to two.

Middleweight - Tim Kennedy, who will return to the UFC in November, dropped from a tie for 12th with Dan Henderson to occupy the 13 spot on his own.

Welterweight - Here we go. Rory MacDonald’s move to Bellator obviously removed him from the rankings. He was in the three spot, so Demian Maia moved into that spot. Carlos Condit is up one to four, while Kelvin Gastelum is also up one to five. Johny Hendricks moved up two to six. Donald Cerrone’s huge win over Rick Story saw him jump a massive seven spots to seven. Lorenz Larkin’s dominating win over Neil Magny helped him to make his rankings debut at nine. Oddly, he’s still below Magny, who remains in the seven spot (now tied with Cerrone). Rick Story dropped just one spot to 10, in a tie with Dong Hyun Kim. Gunnar Nelson dropped one to 12. Matt Brown dropped two spots to 14. Albert Tumenov re-entered the list at 15.

Lightweight - Edson Barboza moved up one spot to four, bumping Nate Diaz to five.

Featherweight - No changes.

Bantamweight - Cody Garbrant’s quick win moved him up two spots to six. That dropped Aljamain sterling to seven and Michael McDonald to eight. Takeya Mizugaki’s loss to Garbrandt dropped him one spot to 12, allowing Eddie Wineland to move up to 11.

Flyweight - No changes.

Women’s bantamweight - Liz Carmouche dropped from a tie for eight to take over the nine spot on her own.

Women’s strawweight - Jessica Aguilar moved up two spots to 12. Jessica Penne dropped one spot to 13. Cortney casey makes her rankings debut at 14.
